July 2, 2007 SCORE CEO Sal Fish announced the proposed course for the 40th Tecate SCORE Baja 1000.
The race will ceremoniously begin in Tijuana, Mexico on Sunday, November 11, 2007 with racers parading from Tijuana to Ensenada. Monday November 12th will be technical inspection and contingency with the race starting on Tuesday morning.
This special peninsula run will follow the same route as the 2007 SCORE Tecate Baja 500 until turning right after the water crossing at Mike's Sky Rancho and then going up the steps, descending to El Coyote, jumping back on the 2007 500 course in reverse to San Telmo, behind Meling Ranch and down to Santa Domingo.
From Santa Domingo the course stays East of Highway 1 to El Rosario then heads South-East to the mines of El Marmol before merging on to Highway 1 North of Catavina. Rally Loggers enforce the 60 mph speed limit before hitting the dry lake at Chapala on the way to Coco's corner. Into the Calamajue Wash, heading for Bahia de Los Angeles.
From Bay of LA to San Ignacio it's a familiar journey duplicating of the 2006 SCORE Baja 1000 course. From San Ignacio South West to Scorpion Bay via El Datil, climbing into the mountains before emerging in Loreto. With an almost a straight shot to Constitucion before venturing on to Las Pocitas. A beach run brings us to El Tepetate before continuing South towards Todos Santos following the Baja 2000 course to Cabo San Lucas approximate mileage: 1300 |
